KDHE Informational Meeting

A special meeting will be held in Beloit this evening to help anyone who might have to disturb painted surfaces better understand new regulations in what is called the new Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule.

Tom Langer with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment Lead Program will be conducting the Town Hall Meeting which will be held in Beloit at the North Central Regional Planning Commission Building at 6:30-PM.

Troy Odle from All Things Exterior says the new law requires contractors to take more safety precautions.

The Environmental Protection Agency granted KDHE the authority to implement and enforce regulations that apply to residential housing, apartments, and child-occupied facilities built before 1978.

The new law went into effect April 9th.

About Mike Schrant

Mike is one of those guys who has spent nearly a lifetime trying to figure out what he wants to do when he grows up. He has split time as a broadcaster and educator having first worked in radio in the early 1970’s while attending junior college. The two careers are directly connected because many of the 25 years as an educator were spent teaching broadcast journalism at the high school and college levels. Mike is married and has three adult children (no grandchildren yet) and enjoys sports, debating politics, gardening, landscaping-hauling rocks, and swapping stories with the "good old boys".
