Contractors Meeting with KDHE

Representatives from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and All Things Exterior in Beloit will be hosting an informational meeting on new regulations regarding Lead-based paint in housing and how its impacts contractors in Kansas.

The meeting is designed to help all contractors, property managers and others who disturb painted surfaces in North Central Kansas understand the new Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule as well as address any questions regarding Kansas regulations.

On April 9th of this year new regulations regarding lead-based paint in housing became effective in Kansas. The Environmental Protection Agency granted KDHE the authority to implement and enforce regulations in the state that apply to residential housing, apartments, and child-occupied facilities built before 1978.

The informational meeting will be held next Tuesday, May 25th at 6:30-PM in the basement meeting room of the North Central Kansas Regional Planning Commission Building in Beloit.

For more information regarding the meeting, you can contact Tom Langer – Interim Director for KDHE’s Bureau of Environmental Health at 785-368-7391 or Troy Odle at All Things Exterior at 738-2434.

About Mike Schrant

Mike is one of those guys who has spent nearly a lifetime trying to figure out what he wants to do when he grows up. He has split time as a broadcaster and educator having first worked in radio in the early 1970’s while attending junior college. The two careers are directly connected because many of the 25 years as an educator were spent teaching broadcast journalism at the high school and college levels. Mike is married and has three adult children (no grandchildren yet) and enjoys sports, debating politics, gardening, landscaping-hauling rocks, and swapping stories with the "good old boys".
