Beatrice man killed by tractor

A rural Beatrice man was found under the wheel of a tractor. Chuck Benash, 55, was pinned underneath the left rear wheel of a tractor south of his home Monday morning.  The Gage County Sheriff’s Office reported Benash was last seen operating the tractor at approximately 6 p.m. Sunday.  Investigators believe Benash got off the tractor for an unknown reason.  The tractor dropped into gear, and ran over Benash.  He was discovered Monday morning and it is believed he was pinned underneath the tractor since Sunday night. Benash, graduated in 1973 from Beatrice High School. He was a well known mechanic who enjoyed helping others.  Benash is survived by his wife, Lee Benash, a sister and three brothers, his daughters and grandchildren. Funeral services are planned for 1 p.m., Friday, at St. John Lutheran Church in Beatrice.
