Annual Glen Elder Youth Fishing Tournament

The 6th Annual Glen Elder Youth Fishing Tournament has been set for Saturday, June 5th this year. Volunteer anglers will again be taking the young people out on their boats for the day at Waconda Lake.

Lunch will be provided to all of the participants and each of the young people will receive a fishing pole, tackle and prizes. Special awards will be awarded to the youngster with the biggest fish, the most fish, and the smallest fish.

The June 5th weekend will be a free fishing and free park entrance weekend at Waconda Lake.

All youth between the ages of 7-and-14 are encouraged to call the state park office to get registered. That number is 545-3345.

Also, anyone with a boat willing to assist that day is asked to sign up by also calling the state park office.

Again that number is 545-3345.

About Mike Schrant

Mike is one of those guys who has spent nearly a lifetime trying to figure out what he wants to do when he grows up. He has split time as a broadcaster and educator having first worked in radio in the early 1970’s while attending junior college. The two careers are directly connected because many of the 25 years as an educator were spent teaching broadcast journalism at the high school and college levels. Mike is married and has three adult children (no grandchildren yet) and enjoys sports, debating politics, gardening, landscaping-hauling rocks, and swapping stories with the "good old boys".
