Extension News: Babysitting Workshop Scheduled in Washington

River Valley Extension is sponsoring a “basics about babysitting” workshop on Tuesday, May 25 at the 1^st National Bank meeting room in Washington.  The workshop is geared for youth 12 and older who would like to babysit. We will be using the 4-H/Army Child and Youth Services babysitting curriculum which will cover:

*The responsibilities of babysitting;

*Skills & techniques related to childcare, first aid, CPR, entertainment, and appropriate snacks for young children;

*Handling possible risky situations.

The clinic will be from 9:30-3:00 p.m. with a light lunch provided. Participants should plan to stay the entire time and will go home with a ‘babysitter’s magic bag’ and certificate of completion. Pre-registration is required by calling the KSU-River Valley District Extension office in Washington at (785) 325-2121 or the Concordia office at (785) 243-8185 by Wednesday, May 19, 2010.
