River Valley Extension is sponsoring a “basics about babysitting” workshop on Tuesday, May 25 at the 1st National Bank meeting room in Washington. The workshop is geared for youth 12 and older who would like to babysit. We will be using the 4-H/Army Child and Youth Services babysitting curriculum which will cover:
*The responsibilities of babysitting;
*Skills & techniques related to childcare, first aid, CPR, entertainment, and appropriate snacks for young children;
*Handling possible risky situations.
The clinic will be from 9:30-3:00 p.m. with a light lunch provided. Participants should plan to stay the entire time and will go home with a ‘babysitter’s magic bag’ and certificate of completion. Pre-registration is required by calling the KSU-River Valley District Extension office in Washington at (785) 325-2121 or the Concordia office at (785) 243-8185 by Wednesday, May 19, 2010.
