Enrollement grows at SCC

SCC enrollment continues to climb as end of academic year approaches
Members of Southeast Community College’s Board of Governors received another positive enrollment report during Tuesday’s regular monthly meeting on the Lincoln Campus.
Dr. Jack Huck, SCC president, presented the Board with a clear picture of SCC’s enrollment for each of the first three quarters, as well as a snapshot of preliminary numbers for the current Spring Quarter, the last in SCC’s academic year.
The report indicates that enrollment for the Spring Quarter is up 9.06 percent from the same time a year ago. Huck said the report was generated shortly after the 10th day of the quarter, the College’s official census day. He said final enrollment numbers wouldn’t be calculated until June when the quarter ends.
“This is a very good result for our spring term enrollment,” Huck said.
Preliminary figures indicate that 2,577 students are enrolled at SCC for the Spring Quarter, up 214 from 2009. When all four quarters are combined, the report indicates that SCC’s enrollment is up 7.93 percent over the same time a year ago, to 9,952.
“Overall, it’s a very good year for us,” Huck said. “To be up about 8 percent for the year is an excellent outcome. It speaks to outstanding work of our programs and staff throughout the College. We’re certainly smiling about these results.”
The 2009 Summer Quarter saw SCC’s enrollment increase by a whopping 16.76 percent. Enrollment grew 5.89 percent in the 2009 Fall Quarter, and 3.5 percent for the 2010 Winter Quarter.
