50th Quality Beef Day Results Announced

The 50 Annual Quality Beef Day was held on Saturday, April th 10, at Hedstrom Hall in Marysville, Kansas. There were 86 head of livestock exhibited by 42 youth and adults from Kansas and Nebraska. The livestock were judged by Twig Marston of Norfolk, Nebraska.

Fifty-five youth and adults participated in the 4-H, FFA, and Adult Livestock Judging Contest.

“We had great weather for our 50th Annual Quality Beef Day There were many new faces at this year’s Quality Beef Day, with some people traveling as far as Burlington, Kansas to attend this event. Overall, we were very pleased with the number of spectators and participants, and we appreciate the financial support that our Marshall County area businesses provided at this year’s Quality Beef Day,” stated Michael Vogt, Marshall County Extension Agent and Secretary for the Quality Beef Day Committee.

“We are looking forward to planning and hosting the 51st Annual Quality Beef Day,” Vogt stated.

About Derek Nester

Derek Nester was born and raised in Blue Rapids, and graduated from Valley Heights High School in May of 2000. He attended Cowley College in Arkansas City and Johnson County Community College in Overland Park studying Journalism & Media Communication. After stops at KFRM and KCLY radio in Clay Center, he joined KNDY in 2002 as a board operator and play by play announcer. Derek is now responsible for the digital content of Dierking Communications, Inc. 6 radio stations. In 2005 Derek joined the staff of KCFX radio in Kansas City as a production assistant for the Kansas City Chiefs Radio Network, which airs on 69 radio stations across 9 Midwest states.
