What better way to experience springtime in Nebraska than to take a bus trip to see two of the state’s most beautiful nursery and garden areas.
Southeast Community College’s Continuing Education Center is sponsoring its Spring Garden Tour with a bus trip to Omaha to visit Mulhall’s Landscaping, Nursery and Garden Center, and Lauritzen Gardens. The trip takes place Saturday, April 24. The bus will depart from the Truman Center on SCC’s Beatrice Campus, 4771 W. Scott Road, at 8 a.m. and return at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Cost is $55 per person and includes transportation, admission fees and lunch. Time spent at Mulhall’s Nursery and Lauritzen Gardens is on your own. To register, call Kelly Morgan at 228-8244 or kmorgan@southeast.edu.
Participants will be joined by Nebraska certified nurseryman Jim Kinghorn and C.J. Wehrbein, who have a combined 75 years of experience in landscape and turf.
During the last 50 years, Mulhall’s has grown to a 30-acre facility and has been voted Omaha Magazine’s No. 1 Garden Center for 10 years. It is the region’s largest supplier of nature-related products and services. While at Mulhall’s, participants will be able to browse and shop their wide variety of indoor and outdoor foliage, garden furniture, statuary and accessories.
The other treat on this trip is an “escape to an oasis,” a visit to the gorgeous 100-acre Lauritzen Gardens. There, participants will be able to view a variety of foliage, flowers and plants from around the world. Lauritzen Gardens is a living museum of unique four-season plant displays, maintained to the highest standards consistent with environmental stewardship. The visit will provide memorable educational and aesthetic experiences.
