The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office and Wamego Police Department are asking for public assistance in locating a vehicle believed to be involved in a check forgery ring.
Sheriff Greg Riot says several forged checks were passed in the Manhattan and Wamego area between 4 and 5 last Friday afternoon. The loss was placed at more than $9,000.
Riot says the checks had been stolen in a business burglary earlier in the week.
He says they are seeking a late 90’s dirty/dark green Chevy Astro van possibly bearing Shawnee County tags. The van was believed to be occupied by 5 to 6 Hispanic males.
Anyone with information is asked to contact either the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office or Wamego Police Department. Please ask for investigations. Tips can remain anonymous.
