Re-zoning protest petition falls short

The Petition to protest a proposed zoning change falls short and is declared invalid.  According to City Clerk Debbie Price a petition to protest the proposed change of zoning for the property involved in the housing development on 11th road has been declared invalid.  Price said the petition did not meet the requirements set forth and did not have the necessary number of signatures needed from property owners surrounding the project.  The Marysville governing body which includes the council and the mayor will vote Monday concerning the re-zoning of the property.  Because the petition was invalid a 2/3rd majority vote is needed to pass the zoning change.  If the petition had been valid a ¾ majority vote would have been required.
