Marshall County Rural Fire Department receives grant money

U.S. Senator Pat Roberts has announced more than $690,000 in thirteen grants to Kansas firefighters to improve homeland security.
Of those, Nemaha County Rural Fire District #4 in Bern will receive a nearly $19,000 grant for fire operations and safety.
In addition, Marshall County Rural Fire District #9 in Frankfort will receive a more than $15,000 grant for fire operations and safety.
The funds were awarded by the 2009 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The program assists rural, urban, and suburban fire departments nationwide.
