Honor flight fundraiser this Saturday

Jackson Heights School District will hold a fundraiser Saturday for an Honor Flight this spring.
Honor Flights takes World War II veterans to Washington DC to visit the National World War II memorial and other historic sites.
Jackson Heights School District Superintendent Paul Becker says a chicken and noodle dinner will be held Saturday evening at the EUM Church in Holton. The cost of the meal is a donation to benefit the Honor Flight program.   The meal will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., with Gary Bell and Country performing afterwards.
Becker says the next Honor Flight—the third since the school began the program in the spring of 2009— is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 5th.
More than $11,000 has been raised so far for the third Honor Flight, with the total estimated cost of the flight at around $15,000.
Becker encourages World War II veterans who haven’t participated in previous Honor Flights to call him at ( 785 ) 364-2194 if they are interested in participating.
