As of 2:00 p.m. this afternoon, Norris Public Power District is still experiencing power outages throughout its service territory in Gage, Jefferson, Lancaster, Saline and Thayer Counties. Crews are currently working in the rural areas of Friend, Dorchester, Wilber, Clatonia, DeWitt, Plymouth, Filley, Virginia, Carleton, Bruning, Alexandria and Hebron. There are an estimated 800 customers without power, which is down from the peak this morning of 2,500.
While many of the District crews are receiving assistance from the county roads departments in the form of snow plows and tractors, the blowing snow and low visibility has hampered District crew’s progress in the restoration efforts. Crews will continue working this afternoon to restore power.
With the current weather conditions, the potential for additional outages is high. Customers who are currently without power or who may experience an outage as the day goes along should be prepared to make alternate shelter arrangements for tonight.
