Southeast Community College is offering welding classes in Deshler beginning in January 2010.
Two classes of Gas Metal Arc Welding, more commonly called MIG welding, will be taught in the Deshler Public School’s Industrial Arts Building. GMAW I Basic Welding (steel) meets 12 Wednesdays beginning Jan. 13 and ending March 21. GMAW II Advanced Welding (aluminum) meets 12 Thursdays beginning Jan. 14 and ending April 1. Both classes will run 6:30-9:30 p.m. Tuition for each class is $144.
After the first class session, all participants in both classes will weld during every class session using the latest welding equipment supplied by Reinke Manufacturing Company, Inc. in cooperation with Linweld, Inc. and Miller Electric Company.
Thanks to a partnership between Deshler Public Schools and Reinke, the two GMAW classes for adults are being offered. Both classes are designed to prepare individuals for employment with plenty of hands-on welding experiences.
According to estimates from the American Welding Society, there will be a significant increase in career opportunities in welding technology in the next three to seven years. GMAW is a dominant welding process today because it can join a wide range of materials with high-quality welds at a low cost. GMAW skills are needed for employment, and GMAW equipment is becoming readily available and affordable for farm and ranch use.
