Democrat Bows out of Governor’s Race

Not to leave Kansas Democrats out, one more political note. Although “left out” is how Many Kansas Democrats probably feel with yesterday’s announcement that their leading candidate for Governor has dropped out of the race.

Tom Wiggans, a former pharmaceutical executive, has formally ended his campaign. His campaign organization acknowledged that they would have a great deal of difficulty defeating the expected Republican nominee U.S. Senator Sam Brownback.

Wiggans’ spokesperson Amy Jordan Wooden said, “Tom was relatively unknown to many voters and many donors, and what we saw was that the resources it would take to counter that, to talk about issues, is insurmountable.”

About Mike Schrant

Mike is one of those guys who has spent nearly a lifetime trying to figure out what he wants to do when he grows up. He has split time as a broadcaster and educator having first worked in radio in the early 1970’s while attending junior college. The two careers are directly connected because many of the 25 years as an educator were spent teaching broadcast journalism at the high school and college levels. Mike is married and has three adult children (no grandchildren yet) and enjoys sports, debating politics, gardening, landscaping-hauling rocks, and swapping stories with the "good old boys".
