As of 6:00 a.m. this morning, Norris Public Power District has around 2,500 customers without power due to the winter storm that has hit the area. The District serves customers in Gage, Jefferson, Lancaster, Saline and Thayer Counties. All five counties are experiencing scattered power outages with Thayer County being affected the most.
Norris Public Power crews are working to restore power and will continue to do so throughout the day. However, the crews are battling poor visibility and nearly impassible roads in most areas. As long as the strong winds continue, further outages are very likely. Ice on the power lines, along with the strong winds are causing the lines to gallop and slap together.
Customers without power are encouraged to call the District and to make alternate shelter arrangements for today and tonight.
