The Beatrice Police Department, along with the Gage County Sheriff’s Department, in cooperation with Gage County Attorney Randy Ritnour, is announcing a 72 hour gun amnesty program that runs until noon on Christmas Day for citizens to turn in stolen firearms without being charged with possession of stolen property.
The gun amnesty program comes on the heels of the arrest of three individuals after a two day investigation by both the Gage County Sheriff’s Department and the Beatrice Police Department.
On December 18th Willy Chanmynarath, age 23, was arrested for possession of a stolen firearm and felon in possession of a firearm. Corde Honea, age 18, was arrested for burglary and possession of a stolen firearm, and Justin Brown, age 19, was arrested for burglary, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of stolen property, and possession of a defaced firearm.
The investigation lead to the recovery of approximately 20 firearms from four different locations within the city of Beatrice, and the clearance of 4 burglaries, one in the city, three in the county.
