State budget cuts have forced Kansas Secretary of Agriculture Josh Svaty to temporarily suspend inspections in hotels across the State of Kansas.
In a press conference yesterday Svaty said, the suspensions are a result of Governor Mark Parkinson’s cutting $303,000 from the Agriculture Department’s budget.
The Agency licenses 825 hotels, motels, lodges and bed and breakfast locations in Kansas.
Svaty, a former state representative from Ellsworth, said all the facilities currently licensed have been inspected, but future inspections will depend on whether the legislature can restore the funding.
