Effort to Restore Power Nearly Complete

Rolling Hills Electric Cooperative is reporting that it should complete the effort to restore power to the residents of Republic, Washington and Cloud Counties shortly.

Rolling Hills Manager Doug Johnson said, “It’s a very slow process, we have put a lot of poles in the ground and we are moving through a lot of mud.”

It has been a week since a snowstorm blanketed a good portion of the northern part of the state with as much as 8-inches of heavy, wet snow. At its peak, Rolling Hills reported as many as 600 rural customers were without electricity.

The Mankato based electric cooperative serves about 10,000 meters in 16 North Central Kansas counties.

About Mike Schrant

Mike is one of those guys who has spent nearly a lifetime trying to figure out what he wants to do when he grows up. He has split time as a broadcaster and educator having first worked in radio in the early 1970’s while attending junior college. The two careers are directly connected because many of the 25 years as an educator were spent teaching broadcast journalism at the high school and college levels. Mike is married and has three adult children (no grandchildren yet) and enjoys sports, debating politics, gardening, landscaping-hauling rocks, and swapping stories with the "good old boys".
