Jilka Expected to Run for 1st District Seat

The Kansas Democratic Party is saying that there will be an announcement today, specifically a Salina man will announce his candidacy for the 1st District U.S. House of Representatives seat.

The Salina Journal is reporting today that the mystery man is former 3-term Salina City Commissioner and Mayor Alan Jilka.

A press conference is scheduled for 10:00 this morning in front of the Salina City-County Building.

The Big First District Congressional seat is being vacated by Hays Republican Jerry Moran. Moran is running for the U.S. Senate seat that is being vacated by Sam Brownback who is expected to run for Governor in 2010.
