Centralia, Frankfort, Valley Heights, & ACCHS will be representing the TVL and Big 7 Leagues this Friday and Saturday at the State Volleyball Tournaments in Hays.

In Class 1A, Centralia is the #3 seed with a 38-5 record. The Co-TVL Champion Panthers, have only lost twice to 1A competition this season with both of those losses to B&B. Their other 3 losses are to 3A schools, two of which, (Osage City & Rock Creek) made their 3A sub-state Championship matches.

The Panthers have won ten 1A state titles including a state record, 8 straight titles (1997-2004). Centralia comes into Hays on a roll having won 16 consecutive matches. The Panthers placed second last year falling to eventual champion, St. John-Hudson in the Finals.

Centralia opens their state action in pool two on Friday against the defending state champion, St. John-Hudson (32-8) at 9:30 a.m., #7 seed Weskan (33-10) at 11:30 a.m., & #2 seed LeRoy-Southern Coffey County (38-4) at 12:30 p.m..

Frankfort (36-7) won the 1A championship back in 1986 and is making their 2nd straight 1A state tournament under under head coach Vicki Adams. Last year, the Lady Cats went 1-2 in pool play and you can bet they have their sights set on making it to Saturday’s semifinals.

The Wildcats are the #4 seed in the 1A State Tournament and opens up play in pool one at 9:30 a.m. against #5 Pratt-Skyline (33-7). Frankfort will then tangle with #8 seed Hoxie (21-15) at 11:30 a.m. And faces #1 seed Hutchinson-Central Christian (39-2) at 12:30 p.m.

If Frankfort and Centralia make it out of pool play, they could face each other in the semifinals on Saturday at 10 a.m or possibly for a 1A State Title at 11:30 a.m.

In Class 2A, new head coach, Joy Kramer, leads her #5 seeded Valley Heights Lady Mustangs (32-9) into Gross Memorial Coliseum. The Mustangs are looking for their 3rd state title, having won it all in 1992 and 2001. Valley Heights finished 3rd at Hays last year, was state runner-up to Moundridge in 2006, and placed 3rd at Hays in 2005.

Valley Heights opens play at 4:30 p.m. Against #4 Spearville (31-7). At 5:30 p.m., the Mustangs face #1 seed, Oberlin (36-1) and completes pool play at 8:30 p.m. On Friday against #8 seed Salina-Sacred Heart (25-12).

If Valley Heights makes it out of pool play, they would be in a semifinal match at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

In Class 3A, ACCHS, the Big 7 League Champion, continues their fine season at the Bicentennial Center in Salina. The Lady Tigers (36-4) are the #5 seed and begins pool play at 9:30 a.m. Against #4 Richmond-Central Heights (36-4). At 10:30 a.m., the Tigers #1 seed Kismet-Southwestern Heights (36-1) and ends their action on Friday facing #8 Frontenac (20-14) at 1:30 p.m.

If ACCHS makes it out of pool play, they would be in a semifinal match at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
