In June 2009 Class 1A schools approved the separation of Class 1A schools into two divisions for the state championships in Basketball, Volleyball and Scholars Bowl effective with the 2010-2011 school year. Since approval of the split into two divisions, the KSHSAA staff has been working to secure locations for the 2010 State Volleyball Tournaments, which will be held October 29 and 30, 2010.
State Volleyball tournament sites for 2010 championships are as follows:
Class 1A – Division I – Fort Hays State University-Busch Gross Coliseum, Hays
Class 1A – Division II- Fort Hays State University-Busch Gross Coliseum, Hays
Class 2A – White Auditorium, Emporia
Class 3A – Bicentennial Center, Salina
Class 4A – Bicentennial Center, Salina
Class 5A – Kansas Expocentre, Topeka
Class 6A – Kansas Expocentre, Topeka
“With the addition of a seventh classification championship, the KSHSAA staff was tasked with finding another outstanding host site for our state volleyball championships. The addition of White Auditorium in Emporia as a host for Class 2A gives our schools another outstanding venue in which to compete. White Auditorium has hosted high school league championship tournaments on a dual court format for many years. The layout and capacity of the arena will provide our Class 2A schools with a great environment. These factors coupled with the experience Emporia brings to the management of KSHSAA championships in many different sports and classifications give us confidence the new site for Class 2A will be outstanding for players and fans alike,” said Executive Director, Gary Musselman.
