Energy Efficiency Money

There is some new money that will soon be made available for energy efficiency.
The Kansas State Energy office, a Division of the Kansas Corporation Commission, will receive approximately $52-million in additional funding from the Department of Energy.

The funding comes through three different federal programs:
• $38,284,000 through the State Energy Program
• $9,593,500 through Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block AND
• $2.6 million for a new Appliance Rebate Program

Some of the programs are still in the planning phases and will need final approval from the Department of Energy before they become available to the public.

The programs are a part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

For more information about any of these energy efficiency programs and how they affect you, call the North Central Kansas Regional Planning Commission in Beloit at 738-2218.

About Mike Schrant

Mike is one of those guys who has spent nearly a lifetime trying to figure out what he wants to do when he grows up. He has split time as a broadcaster and educator having first worked in radio in the early 1970’s while attending junior college. The two careers are directly connected because many of the 25 years as an educator were spent teaching broadcast journalism at the high school and college levels. Mike is married and has three adult children (no grandchildren yet) and enjoys sports, debating politics, gardening, landscaping-hauling rocks, and swapping stories with the "good old boys".
