In June 2009 Class 1A schools approved the separation of Class 1A schools into two divisions for state championships in Basketball, Volleyball and Scholars’ Bowl effective in the 2010-2011 school year. Since approval of the split into two divisions, the KSHSAA staff has been working to secure locations for the 2011 State Basketball Tournaments to be held March 9-12, 2011.
State basketball tournament sites for the 2011 championships are as follows:
Class 1A – Division I – Fort Hays State University – Busch Gross Coliseum, Hays
Class 1A – Division II – White Auditorium, Emporia
Class 2A – Kansas State University – Bramlage Coliseum, Manhattan
Class 3A – Hutchison Community College – Hutchinson Sports Arena, Hutchinson
Class 4A – Salina Bicentennial Center – Salina
Class 5A – Topeka Expocentre, Topeka
Class 6A – Wichita State University – Koch Arena, Wichita
“With the addition of a seventh state tournament site, the KSHSAA has been very pleased with the willingness of all host communities to work together to allow member schools the opportunity to have state tournament games in well maintained, fan friendly venues. Hosting state tournament events is truly a community effort and we appreciate all parties working together to provide a quality experience for everyone,” said Gary Musselman, KSHSAA Executive Director. “We continue our efforts to finalize our state volleyball tournaments for 2011 and will make an announcement as soon as we are able,” continued Mr. Musselman.
State tournament sites for the 2010 tournaments to be held March 10-13 will remain the same as previous years.
