Marysville City Council Minutes

The Marysville city council met Monday, approving the budget as proposed, for $9.2 million. The 71.682 levy is down slightly, 1.516 mills from the 2009 budget.

The city inspector and public works administrator were asked to prioritize roofing repair on city owned buildings damaged by the summer hailstorm. The city received nearly $5,000 in insurance proceeds from Simmons Auditorium, which they announced would be taken down in the city park.

Safety concerns with the tennis courts were discussed.  Mary Kessinger-Wassom had presented a bid of $210,000 a year ago for repairs, with no action taken. She is to approach the school board, at the councils request, to see if they would fund half of the project. The council also requested an updated estimate for repairs.

On a 4-1 vote, the council opted to keep the city pool open through Labor Day.  Charlie Schwindamann voted no, with concerns that it was not cost effective.

Tim Ackerman was recognized for his service as a councilman from ward 2.  He announced his resignation in July, as his family is moving from that ward. A replacement has not been appointed.
