Moran Votes for PayGo

First District Kansas Congressman Jerry Moran voted in favor of legislation preventing larger federal deficits. The House passed the legislation that would reinstate a “pay-as-you-go” statute that requires new spending to be paid for with cuts to other programs.

The new legislation will make it difficult for the White House and Congress to enact mandatory spending changes that increase the U.S. deficit.

Congressman Moran said, “The PayGo legislation will require increased scrutiny of many spending proposals. As Americans now are struggling to balance their budgets – Congress should do the same. I don’t want our deficit to burden future generations. I look forward to opportunities to eliminate the waste of American dollars.”

Moran is an original co-sponsor of a constitutional amendment that requires the federal government to operate on a balanced budget.

About Mike Schrant

Mike is one of those guys who has spent nearly a lifetime trying to figure out what he wants to do when he grows up. He has split time as a broadcaster and educator having first worked in radio in the early 1970’s while attending junior college. The two careers are directly connected because many of the 25 years as an educator were spent teaching broadcast journalism at the high school and college levels. Mike is married and has three adult children (no grandchildren yet) and enjoys sports, debating politics, gardening, landscaping-hauling rocks, and swapping stories with the "good old boys".
