Kansas Wheat Prediction Up Slightly

Better than expected is the latest word used to describe the estimated Kansas wheat harvest. That’s what a new report from Kansas Agricultural Statistics Service is saying. The latest estimate predicts the Kansas crop will come in at around 300-million bushels.

That number represents about a 3% increase over the forecast made about a month ago. By the way, that’s the good news. Here’s the bad news, the new production estimates are still 21% below last year’s 380-million bushel bumper crop.

You can reduce those big numbers down to per acre bushels by plugging in these numbers – 40 last year and an estimated 32 this year.
