Moran Introduces Veterans Legislation

First District Kansas Congressman Jerry Moran used this past Memorial Day weekend as a backdrop to introduce legislation late last week that would prevent veterans from being unfairly denied their right to purchase firearms.

The legislation, sponsored by Moran and Texas Congressman Ciro Rodriguez, would reform the Department of Veterans Affairs process that has taken away Second Amendment rights from the veterans and their families who receive assistance managing their financial affairs.

Passage of the legislation, according to a statement from Moran’s office, would put in place a better process so that an appropriate judicial authority makes the decision.

Congressman Moran is a senior member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee.

About Mike Schrant

Mike is one of those guys who has spent nearly a lifetime trying to figure out what he wants to do when he grows up. He has split time as a broadcaster and educator having first worked in radio in the early 1970’s while attending junior college. The two careers are directly connected because many of the 25 years as an educator were spent teaching broadcast journalism at the high school and college levels. Mike is married and has three adult children (no grandchildren yet) and enjoys sports, debating politics, gardening, landscaping-hauling rocks, and swapping stories with the "good old boys".
