The Governor of Texas recently quipped that his state should consider seceding from the Union. Most Kansans probably don’t care one way or another where “Big T” goes.
What Kansans do care about, including Big First District Kansas Congressman Jerry Moran, is an attempt by the Texas Biological and Agro-Defense Consortium to derail the building of the new National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility in Manhattan, Kansas. The Texas company was passed over when the facility’s final selection sight was chosen and is now threatening a “Texas-sized” lawsuit.
Moran, in a public statement yesterday said, “In a thorough and fair process, Kansas State University was selected as the best location for the facility. Kansas is clearly recognized to have the infrastructure, the knowledge and the commitment to ensure the NBAF’s mission is fulfilled. To keep America’s food supply safe and our agricultural economy strong, this critical animal disease research must move forward.”
Oh, and in regard to the question secession by Texas, one word – “adios”.
