Sebelius Nomination and Swine Flu Suggestions

Democrats are confident that the full Senate today will confirm Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius as Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Sebelius has certainly taken a lickin’ during the confirmation process with revelations of tax irregularities and a campaign connection to late term abortion provider, Dr. George Tiller made public.

If Sebelius is confirmed today, it is likely that the Swine Scare Flu scare will likely be the first item on her agenda as the Health and Human Service Director.

A little closer to home, two cases of Swine Flu have been confirmed in Dickinson County – the only cases confirmed in Kansas.

Ladonna Reinert, Lincoln County Public Health Officer, says all of the counties in Kansas are getting daily updates from KDHE and CDC in Atlanta. She called the situation basically, “Watch and wait and see.”

Her best advice, “Common sense sanitation rules like washing your hands frequently and keeping your hands away from your face, especially your eyes.”

About Mike Schrant

Mike is one of those guys who has spent nearly a lifetime trying to figure out what he wants to do when he grows up. He has split time as a broadcaster and educator having first worked in radio in the early 1970’s while attending junior college. The two careers are directly connected because many of the 25 years as an educator were spent teaching broadcast journalism at the high school and college levels. Mike is married and has three adult children (no grandchildren yet) and enjoys sports, debating politics, gardening, landscaping-hauling rocks, and swapping stories with the "good old boys".
